Overview
Key facts
The online program in Industrial Engineering consists of graduate-level coursework in operations research, statistics, and applied industrial engineering. The primary emphasis program is on modeling, analysis, and solution of problems arising in the traditional domains of manufacturing, warehousing, and supply chain systems.
Students in the program study under faculty actively engaged in research and prepared to teach the latest developments in industrial engineering. Students interested in a follow-on doctoral study should find that the program provides an excellent introduction to graduate study and outstanding preparation for in-depth study.
The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from program Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) consists of 30 credit hours with core courses in manufacturing, warehousing, and supply chain systems, as well as methodology courses such as simulation, optimization, and probabilistic models.
There is flexibility in the curriculum when choosing the 9 credit hours of technical and free electives which allows the students to concentrate their studies on a specific area such as operations research, statistics, management, mechanical engineering, etc. Students in the MSIE program do not complete a research thesis or capstone independent work; students with such interests should alternatively consider our Ph.D. programs or one of our specialty Master's degree programs.
