The International Business programme from the University of Deusto offers future managers the appropriate expertise to recognise international business opportunities and to design and implement international business strategy, taking into account the key elements of international management (marketing, finance, human resources, etc) of each country.


The International Business programme from the University of Deusto trains participants to become specialists in international business management by emphasising the uniqueness of the global geographical areas and developing the necessary skills for working in multicultural teams.

Career opportunities

Graduates of this programme are provided with the skills to assume responsibilities in:

  • Multinational companies with international experience – in all areas and operational levels
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises with an international vocation – mainly in general management and international departments
  • Private consultancy or advisory services, foreign trade, international departments, overseas branches of banks, or official trade representatives
  • Public or semi-public institutions supporting internationalisation: chambers of commerce, support institutions of internationalisation (ICEX, governments, etc).


From the professional perspective, the MIB aims to train future managers for companies that have chosen to operate in the international arena.The general skills acquired in this Master’s programme allow people to assume the following responsibilities:

  • Diagnosis of the risks and opportunities in the international market.
  • Identify countries that offer business opportunities for their company
  • Develop internationalisation plans for distinct markets, taking into consideration the key aspects pertaining to each market
  • Evaluate the characteristics of the competition in foreign markets and make an appropriate proposal of value differentiation and adaptation to customers’ characteristics
  • Identify local markets’ ability to supply the necessary components for manufacturing
  • Design a human resources policy for expatriate and local staff
  • Apply the tools for reducing the risks to a company when operating in different currencies and with fluctuating commodity prices.

General Requirements

  • Graduates of Business Management and Administration (or equivalent) or related university degrees.
  • Candidates who are in the final year of their undergraduate studies may also apply, although the definitive offer of a place on the MIB programme will be conditional on the successful completion of their studies.
  • Candidates who have completed the studies shown below are eligible to enter the Master's degree programme in International Business: a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline which includes a minimum of 60 ECTS credits earned in Business Administration (or the equivalent), or a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration ( or the equivalent).
