Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.7

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.7 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • a portfolio of compositions with scores and audio files;
  • three letters of recommendation; and
  • a writing sample.

Graduate Assistantships
  • This primary form of financial assistance for full-time or part-time graduate students provides tuition remission, a stipend, and resident tuition rates for the duration of the
  • award.
  • Each department offers its own graduate assistantships. Please check with your department for application instructions.
Graduate Fellowships
  • The College of Graduate Studies awards one-year competitive fellowships which provide tuition remission plus a stipend.
  • All applicants must submit an official copy of a current GRE or GMAT score with their application before the deadline, which is the first Monday in February. The one-year Fellowship is only for first year graduate students. It grants resident tuition rates and provides a tuition scholarship of 20 credit hours, plus a stipend of approximately $11,000.

  • A variety of jobs are available on campus, and all students may apply for campus employment after arrival on campus.
