As the only Public Administration program from University of the Pacific offered by an accredited law school in California, special attention is given to statutes, regulations, and strategic use of legal processes. The 36-unit core curriculum is built around student engagement in spirited policy discussions with faculty, while learning about innovative management approaches from experienced professionals. Students may also choose to pursue a concentration consisting of two or more courses (6 units) in addition to the 36-unit core curriculum. The 36-unit requirement is for student enrolling in Fall 2022. Current students should refer to catalog requirements.
Courses emphasize:
- Foundations of public action based in statutes and regulations
- Importance of values for public action
- Competencies in strategic leadership and systemic change
- Analytical skills required for public management
- Analysis, design, and implementation of public policies
Pending WSCUC approval, at least 50% of course contact hours in the program will be online with hybrid learning. The exact amount of online instruction for an individual course will vary between 25% and 100% according to the unique characteristics of the class. A current resume which includes all relevant professional experience.
Your recommenders will be required to submit their recommendations in the GradCAS system. Two letters are required, but you may submit up to four. Letters of recommendation should be from anyone who can speak to your professional skills and your ability to succeed at the graduate level.
A personal statement that describes your interest in public service and addresses the following:
- Your purpose in pursuing the MPA or MPP degree at Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law
- A general sense of what you hope to achieve with your degree after graduating
