
Overview
For those individuals with a baccalaureate degree in areas equivalent in content to an approved University of South Dakota teaching major, this Secondary Education Plus Certification program provides an opportunity to become certified to teach at the secondary level. Students with degrees in art, music or physical education will also have to satisfy the necessary requirements for K-12 certification.

General requirements
- Application Fee: $35.00 U.S.D. The application fee cannot be waived and is nonrefundable.
- Official Transcripts: If transcripts are not originally provided by the institution in the English language, the indigenous language transcript should be submitted along with an English translation. The full English translation must include a certification from the translator verifying that the translation is complete and accurate and that they are qualified to translate the language to English.
- Official Admission Test Scores: If test scores are required by a graduate program, students may upload a copy of their score report to their GradCAS application. Full admission will require that an official score report is sent to USD directly from the testing body.
- Letters of Recommendation: Letters must be submitted directly by the recommenders through GradCAS.
