The Master of Arts program is a training of postgraduate research in the form of deepening, whose specificity lies in understanding and research of literature and especially of the Colombian and Latin American Literatures, as corpus and canon of works and authors but also in terms of aesthetic, linguistic, discursive and social practice artifact.


The University awarded the title of Magister or Magistra to the students to comply fully with the requirements of graduation as provided by law and the rules of the University for this purpose.

The Master of Arts at the Pontifical Javeriana University became operational in the second half of 1982, taking its first class in 1983. Since that time and without interruption, the program has been strengthened by specifying its subject matter and consolidating its offer academic inside and outside the country.

The Master of Literature of the Pontifical Javeriana University assumes literature as significant structure, relatively autonomous language as expression, which, to be inserted in culture, should be explained in relation to the macro-structures of the rising, which is yet it transcends concerns: ideological contexts, economic, technological, social, discursive, etc. orders, as well as the reception and circulation spaces where it is appropriate and signified.
