The Master of Materials Engineering at Auburn University provides students an advanced level of knowledge in mechanical properties, materials structure, materials thermodynamics, kinetics and electrical, optical and magnetic properties of materials.

Overview

Materials Engineering offers graduate programs of instruction and research leading to the degrees of master of science (MS) and doctor of philosophy (PhD). All applicants must submit GRE scores for the General Test. Students completing all degree programs are expected to have knowledge in the following areas: mechanical properties; materials structure; materials thermodynamics; kinetics; and electrical, optical and magnetic properties of materials. 

There are no foreign language or minor requirements for Materials Engineering graduate degrees. All students must submit an approved plan of study within one year of matriculating in the program.

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  •     Up to three (3) letters of recommendation may be required by the department.  Applicants should contact the department to find out, first, if letters are required.  If so, how many?  And how should these letters be submitted?
  •     One official transcript of all undergraduate and any graduate credits from each school previously attended. If an Auburn University transcript, the Graduate School will acquire the transcript for you
  •     International applicants should provide an official original language transcript and final diploma/certificate(s) accompanied by a certified English translation of each document.
