About

Post-graduates will be able to work either as a lexicographer at a publishing company or as an academic lexicographer in all fields of lexicography, from the conception of printed and electronic dictionaries to specific lexicographical tasks and further to the technical realization of lexicographical products. Besides, they will be trained profoundly in the analytic-theoretical field of modern lexicography in order to find a field of activity in scientific research or as advising-conceptional lexicographer in the field of publishing and further education.The four-semester programme can be started each winter term; the second semester is done abroad. The programme corresponds to the regulations of the Bologna process: The overall number of ECTS points granted is 120 (the modules have 5 or 10 ECTS points). The total number of students, who are registered for EMLex at the participating universities, is limited to 30 per year because of the particular design of the block seminars during the summer term. These seminars are the core piece of the international aspect.

  • Minimum required score (Grade B2):

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

Academic Requirements

Applicants must have a Higher Educational Institution (HEI) degree in the area of(Computational/Applied) Linguistics(Foreign) LanguagesTranslationCommunication/MediaBook Studies / Library and Information Scienceor other relevant disciplines, subject to the consent of and the approval by the Consortium’s admission committee.If your HEI degree is still in progress, you may nevertheless submit an application. The restriction in this case will be that the HEI degree certificate is available before the EMLex study course begins.
