Make your mark as a strategic communications leader, one of the most critical roles of any organization, with the Master of Arts (MA) in Public Relations at Hofstra University. 


The Public Relations program at the Hofstra University emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving, exceptional writing skills, and proficiency in digital platforms necessary for your success as a public relations professional.

Students have two options:

  • A weeknight program with classes taught in person at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • An online program with an emphasis on Reputation and Crisis Management. Students complete a 3-day in-person course in New York City at the start of the program and a 3-day in-person course at the end of the program, while the remaining 10 classes are taught online.

  • Undergraduate overall GPA of at least 2.75.
  • Academic transcripts (GRE scores are optional).
  • 500- to 750-word essay detailing personal and educational history, past employment, volunteer work, or related experience in the intended feld of study, plans for graduate study, and career goals.
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Writing samples (articles, essays, public relations materials, other).
  • Current resume.
  • International students must have a minimum.
  • TOEFL score of 95.
