About

The graduate program on the Counseling Norfolk campus at Old Dominion University offers a master’s degree, with a counseling concentration. Master’s degrees are offered in three concentrations (college counseling, clinical mental health counseling, and school counseling).

Learning outcomes

The master’s degree program in Counseling offers a curriculum at Old Dominion University that emphasizes the following core components: professional orientation and ethical practice; social and cultural diversity; human growth and development; career development; helping relationships; group work; assessment; and research and program evaluation. In addition, coursework specific to a counseling concentration is required. The program aims to stimulate within students social advocacy and systems understanding in order to reduce disparities among groups.
