Overview

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from University of Massachusetts Boston is a 12 course streamlined curriculum, with no prerequisites. Throughout the program, students will develop the necessary skills needed to tackle the most complex business decisions in today’s market. Students can choose from several unique specializations, or select a mix of courses based on personal or professional goals.

You can complete the MBA program on a full-time or part-time basis. Classes meet in the evenings, typically just once a week, either at our waterfront campus, accessible via public transportation, online or in downtown Boston.  

International students will be required to maintain full-time student status (minimum of 3 courses per semester). 

The MBA is designed for students with an academic background in either business, liberal arts, engineering, or the sciences.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3
Recommended score: 3.4

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

You only need to take one of these tests:

  • Applicants who satisfy one of the following criteria may be eligible to waive the GMAT/GRE exam requirement for the application. 

    This programme accepts GRE® scores and has provided a minimum required score range.

    The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

    The GMAT - or Graduate Management Admission Test - is a frequent requirement for admission at management and business schools across the world. The GMAT score ranges between 200 and 800 and measures the verbal and quantitative reasoning of test-takers.

The College of Management at UMass Boston is offering a fellowship to exceptional International applicants admitted to the College of Management.

 This is a merit-based Fellowship in the amount of $5,000 in total to be determined based on an applicant’s admission materials including prior academic performance and/or application exam scores.
