About

The MFA program in the School of Art is currently going through a period of growth and reorganization which has presented some challenges. Because of this, the Graduate Committee had to make a difficult decision and has decided to suspend admissions into the Visual Arts/Animation MFA program until further notice.

Overview

What You Will Study

  • Through concentrated study and experimentation, you will focus on your development as a professional artist. Through your interactions with faculty and peers, you will explore ideas and techniques, interact with visiting artists and critics, and broaden your technical, aesthetic, and conceptual understanding of media within contemporary practice.

Ball State's MFA in Animation will further your abilities in animation filmmaking. Our comprehensive program focuses on traditional and modern animation techniques, storytelling, and film production through the creation of a short film as your thesis project. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of animated films from their conception to realization, learn about the history of animation while considering critical artistic issues, acquire in-depth knowledge of animation software and the elements of digital media.
