Overview
Core classes of the Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program at John Jay from The City University of New York provide a mastery of the major works and theories of criminology, policing, corrections, judicial studies, quantitative research methods and policy analysis.
Students select from a large number of electives to build a specialization in Criminology and Deviance, Criminal Law and Procedure, Policing, Corrections, or Terrorism Studies. Among the many available electives are Crime Mapping, Crime Scene Investigation, Deviant Behavior, and Terrorism & Apocalyptic Violence.

- A minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher ("B") and completion of an undergraduate statistics course with a grade of B or better are required.
- If you are applying to the Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program, please note that the Graduate Admissions Committee for this program seeks students whose record of performance at the undergraduate level and whose writing skills indicate they are likely to do well in graduate school.
- While the Committee understands that a variety of factors can influence undergraduate grades, applicants with a grade point average below 3.0 are rarely accepted. However, applicants with GPAs above 3.0 should not assume that they will automatically be admitted.
