Visit the official programme website for more information

The World Languages and Literature program from Portland State University is a graduate degree with a concentration in a primary language, a secondary language, and linguistics. The primary language may be German or Spanish, and the second language may be Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Russian, or Spanish.

You'll graduate with effective communication and research skills, knowledge of major theoretical approaches to literature and linguistics, and familiarity with organizations for language professionals that can be beneficial as you pursue doctoral degrees, language teaching, or other careers.

Being able to read, write, and speak multiple foreign languages and having a nuanced understanding of different cultures will make you highly competitive in an increasingly global job market.

The students have found careers in language teaching, international business, international development, translation, and publishing.
