The M.Ed. Master's in Educational Research and Evaluation (EDRE) at Ohio University is intended to prepare graduates for a more advanced study of quantitative methods and for roles in research organizations.

Key facts:

  • The  M.Ed. Master's in Educational Research and Evaluation (EDRE) at Ohio University is intended to allow students the flexibility necessary to develop programs that meet their individual needs and interests.
  • The program of study should be developed in consultation with the student’s advisor and filed with the College before the completion of 20 credit hours. ALL Master’s students are required to take EDRE 5010 Introduction to Research Methods early in the program and a Culminating Project/Seminar Paper or Thesis for 4 credits. In addition to EDRE 5010 and the Culminating Project, students typically are expected to take qualitative, quantitative, psychometrics, mixed methods, and evaluation courses, but ultimately should develop a program designed to meet their individual goals.

Programme Structure

  • A minimum of 30 semester credit hours of courses (i.e., not including culminating project credits) beyond the Bachelor’s Degree is expected for the Master’s in Educational Research and Evaluation. At least two scholarly tool courses are required. These courses are usually advanced methodological courses necessary to fulfill the requirements of a seminar paper/thesis.
