The Master of Science in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at the University at Albany (State University of New York) is an interdisciplinary program for students who wish to join the profession of English language teaching. Graduates from our program teach English all over the world.


  • The Master of Science in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at the University program at Albany (State University of New York) is well-known for training qualified teachers who are equipped with not only solid theoretical basis for language teaching, but they also have hands-on experience during their study through teaching practicum mentored by experienced instructors. 
  • The program will provide you with an opportunity to work with a diverse cohort of students and colleagues from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. 
  • The program includes varied strands of English language teaching, such as literacy, pragmatic competence, language and culture, language teaching methodologies, and teaching with technology, preparing necessary expertise for students in a globalized education job market in the 21st century.
  • For those who want to focus on research supporting language teaching we have a thesis option.
