The Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA) programme at the University of Copenhagen qualifies you to deal with the challenges of the sustainable management of forests and natural areas in an integrated landscape context.


During the Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA) programme at the University of Copenhagen, you work with the enormous challenges of balancing the use of natural resources, and society’s demand and need for forests. 

You become an expert in managing the use of natural resources in profitable and sustainable ways and in managing major forest and nature preservation projects.


The programme provides the students with:

  • a firm theoretical foundation
  • ability to function on the international scene, and openness to foreign cultures
  • all competencies needed for working as a researcher or in forest practices, e.g. development agencies, consultancies, NGOs, international organisations, ministries, governmental agencies, or district forest offices.

General requirements

  • Admission to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programme in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA) requires the completion of a qualifying bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from a recognised/accredited university. If you have completed or are in your final semester of a relevant Bachelor’s degree programme you are eligible to apply for the SUFONAMA programme.
  • Qualifying Bachelor’s degrees include Agriculture, Biology, Forestry, Geography and Geoinformatics, Natural Resources, Agrobiology or Landscape Engineering – or an equivalent Bachelor’s degree.
  • The SUFONAMA admission committee assesses all applications individually based on its academic content. You can only get an answer to whether or not your degree meets the admission requirements by applying for admission to the programme. The committee does not offer pre-application eligibility assessments of potential applicants' qualifications.
