For example, our graduates work as expert teachers, mentors, administrators, advocates, researchers, instructional coaches and higher education faculty.

 

Students pursuing Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum master’s and doctorate degrees (with early childhood emphasis) deepen their knowledge and understanding of children, teaching, and learning. Qualified students can also take courses to meet the requirements for University of Oklahoma early childhood certification.

General requirements

  • An interview is required for admission into the teacher education programs in this department.  Interviews for summer and fall admissions are held in April and August.  Interviews for spring admission are held in November and January.  Submit either the OU Application, Common Application, or Coalition Application. This includes a $40, non-refundable application fee for domestic applicants.
  • Official high school transcript that reflects at least six semesters of work completed and includes your GPA computed on an unweighted 4.0 scale and your class rank
  • Official test scores to us through ACT and/or The College Board. Your test scores may also be included on your official high school transcript
