Materials Engineers may be employed in chemical, pharmaceutical and processing industries; companies active in the production, transformation, transportation and storage of substances and materials; industrial laboratories; public administration offices for environment and safety management.
With the MS in Materials Engineering graduates will also be able to work as scientists, engineers, or managers in industries of production and conversion of metallic, polymeric, ceramic, glass, composite materials and biomaterials, building materials, or electronic materials, telecommunications, energy, construction, transportation, environment, cultural heritage, industrial laboratories and R&D Departments of public and private institutions.
They may be employed, for example, as project and development engineers, in sectors spanning from experiments to engineering, as project managers or technical directors. Considering the wide range of acquired skills they may also be employed in basic and applied research centers, or as managers of production, logistics, quality control, marketing and purchasing managers.
According to figures published by the Italian Institute of Statistics, the Master’s degree course in Materials Engineering also trains future:
Mining and metallurgical engineers;
Chemical engineers
For those who prefer to continue their studies, the Master’s degree in Materials Engineering has been tailored to allow students to embark upon an international post-graduate level study, such as the Ph.D. programs offered at the University of Trento including the Materials, Mechatronics and Systems Engineering Doctoral School.
