The Master of Engineering in Public Works (Infrastructure Engineering and Management) (M.P.W.) degree at the Illinois Institute of Technology is the most widely recognized educational credential for professionals engaged in public works and infrastructure engineering and management. This program is offered in cooperation with Illinois Tech’s Master of Public Policy and Administration program.

Course offerings will prepare students for careers as public works managers, engineers, and planners with an understanding of the engineering principles to manage and protect infrastructure design, construction, and operations.Students are encouraged to select electives in the areas of construction management, geotechnical engineering, public administration, structural engineering, and transportation engineering.

  • Illinois Tech requires a four-year bachelor’s degree conferred with a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0/4.0 (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution for regular admission.

  • Academic requirements: GPA of at least 3.0.
  • GMAT or GRE is required: GRE/GMAT is required, apart from Master of Public Administration. 
  • Personal Statement required
  • Letter of Recommendation is suggested, but not required
