General requirements
- Applicants for a master of science in mathematics should have completed courses in real analysis (advanced calculus) beyond calculus of several variables, linear algebra, and modern abstract algebra or probability. Students must demonstrate proficiency in real analysis and either abstract algebra or probability. They may do so either by taking a preliminary exam or by auditing the relevant course with a grade of B or better on the final exam. The required courses of the master’s program are offered only during the fall and spring semesters.
