The Visual Art Education program at Wayne State University is committed to creating effective art educators in both traditional and contemporary instructional pedagogies and techniques.

Emphasis is placed on developing high quality educators with respect to the art of teaching, personal disposition, and content knowledge.

While recognizing that the teacher preparation process is unique to the individual, we believe that the best teachers are those who continually examine their practice to best impact today's learner.

The Art Education program at Wayne State University is designed to assist teachers who possess certification in visual arts education in developing greater skills in various media, innovative teaching methods, and in curriculum development.  This level of preparation will increase their level of effectiveness and innovation as teachers, assist in the creation of a diverse and interdisciplinary curriculum, and provide salary increases in many schools.
