Programme overview
The Master’s specialisation in Gifted Education at Radboud University is the only Master’s specialisation in the Netherlands that focuses on giftedness. Students study how personal characteristics- like motivation or performance anxiety- abilities, and surrounding influence each other.
You will gain a critical theoretical understanding of pedagogical science, and focus on how to recognize and design interventions for gifted students with different abilities.
The programme works closely with the Centre for the Study of Giftedness (CBO)- headed by Lianne Hoogeveen- the only academic research institute that focuses on giftedness.
Students will also conduct their own research projects in close contact with supervisors.

General requirements
In order to get direct admission to this Master's you will need knowledge of relevant domains in the field of Pedagogical Sciences (16 ECTS or more). You have completed courses on subjects like:
- (Special) education and learning
- Developmental psychology
- Neuroscience
- Psychopathology
- Parenting
- Youth care
- Ethics and philosophy
- Proficiency in academic writing and critical reflection. A sample of your written work must be submitted with your application.
- Proficiency in empirical research practice. You have completed courses on: research methodology used within the social sciences, including knowledge on inter- and intra-individual research designs (e.g. experiments, surveys, observational studies) and psychometrics.
- Proficiency in maintaining a professional attitude. You have completed courses on (therapeutic) interview techniques or have done an internship.
