Overview
The study of Religious Studies at University of Kansas being an inherently interdisciplinary field, the Department faculty shares synergies with colleagues and programs across the campus that enable students to seek specialized training in a diversity of regions, cultures, and approaches to the study of religion.
Learning outcomes
Our faculty is committed to help the individual student articulate the intellectual and professional objectives that have brought him or her to study of religion, and to acquire the training to see these goals to fruition. The Department of Religious Studies at KU is also in the unusual position of being able to provide substantial financial support for students seeking the MA degree.

- A well-written essay (approximately 500-800 words) that describes your interest in the academic study of religion, purpose in pursuing the M.A., and expected areas of emphasis in the program.
- An up-to-date resume or curriculum vitae
- An academic writing sample representative of your academic accomplishments thus far (2500-5000 words).
- Three letters of recommendation
- Scanned copies of official transcripts
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test results are not required. Applicants who wish to have their GRE scores considered should request that ETS submit their score report to KU using the institution code 6871.
