Overview
Physician Assistant Studies graduates at the University of Kentucky deliver a broad range of medical and surgical services to diverse populations in rural and urban settings. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and prescribe medications. PAs promote quality, cost effective medical care to all members of society. Physician assistants are certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and state-licensed.
Mission
The mission of the program is to improve the health and wellbeing of the people in Kentucky by graduating competent and compassionate physician assistants.
The Physician Assistant Studies program at the University of Kentucky strives to:

- Promote quality, cost effective medical care to all members of society
It accomplishes these goals through:
- Successful completion of the didactic and clinical phases of our curriculum
- Evaluation by our faculty and community preceptors
- Passing a summative exam during the last four months of the program
