The MAT program in World Language Education at the University of Georgia is designed for students who want advanced professional preparation and study in teaching world languages to children, adolescents, and young adults. Upon graduation, MAT students receive K-12 T-5 initial certification to teach world languages in Georgia schools. 

The program consists of 51 credit hours in teaching methods, second language acquisition, literacy, cultural awareness, research methods, as well as a fall semester of methods and practicum experiences and a spring semester of student-teaching. Individuals interested in teaching French, German, Latin, Spanish and less commonly taught language (i.e., Arabic, Korean, Italian, Mandarin, among others) should contact our department.
