University rank #201 (ARWU) , GA,
Environmental solutions require a rigorous foundation in the life and physical sciences along with the ability to contribute in creative ways to solving interdisciplinary problems. This Environmental Engineering program is offered by The University of Georgia.

About

Priority areas of faculty research include: integrated water resource management, waste management and assimilation through biological processes, environmental externalities of energy production, and coastal and urban systems.

This Environmental Engineering program is offered by The University of Georgia.

The program enables students to both gain in-depth knowledge and opportunities to seek creative interdisciplinary solutions.

The increasingly complex relationship of engineered systems and the environment has generated the need for engineers to better understand the interconnectedness of natural resources with people and the socio-economic system. The MSEnveEngr degree provides a broad-based engineering education; students learn to integrate knowledge from several disciplines and gain skills in problem definition as well as use of advanced techniques of data analysis and presentation of original research results. This degree requires twenty-four semester hours of course work, including ENGR 6910, Research Methods, and one hour of seminar (ENGR 8950). Six hours of thesis research is also required. Six hours of math and six hours of statistics are encouraged, with remaining courses related to a thesis topic.

Accreditation

Officially accredited/recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, University of Georgia (UGA) is a very large (enrollment range: 35,000-39,999 students) coeducational higher education institution.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score:

    80

The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120. Read more about TOEFL iBT ®.

  • Minimum required score:

    550

The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. It accurately measures how well you can listen, read and write in English while performing academic tasks. Read more about TOEFL®PBT.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Official undergraduate and graduate academic transcripts
  • A statement of purpose
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Scores. Average Quantitative GRE scores of recent accepted students range near the 80th percentile.  Applicants holding a UGA degree may waive this requirement if they meet GPA and undergraduate research requirements.
  • TOEFL is required for international students whose native language is other than English.
