Overview
The Molecular Biology and Biomedicine at University of Cantabria includes the majority of scientistsfrom the UPV/EHU, UC and associatedInstitutes currently engaged in cutting-edgeresearch in the fields of Molecular Biology andGenetics, as well as in a variety of molecularaspects of Biomedicine.This is a research-oriented degree. TheMBMB provides direct access to both doctoralprograms in Molecular Biology and Biomedicineoffered by the UPV/EHU or the UC (recognizedwith Distinction towards Excellence by theSpanish Ministry of Education).The MBMB degree also fully prepares graduatesfor work opportunities in biotechnologycompanies, pharmaceutical laboratories,biomedical research institutes...
Students undertake a research project (30 ECTS) in one of the laboratories participating inthe MBMB program (for details visit the Masters websites). The project is carried out betweenFebruary and June. At the end of this period, the student writes a Master’s Thesis, which is thenpresented and critically reviewed at a joint UPV/EHU and UC meeting.
Learning outcomes
The program is taught partially in English and partially in Spanish. Both compulsory courses(Workshops) are taught exclusively in English, while certain elective courses are taught inSpanish and others in English. It is possible to complete the full Masters degree in English.Students can also complete part of the program in English and part in Spanish. One course istaught in the Basque language. A B2 or equivalent level of English is strongly recommended.

- Qualifications: Undergraduate university degree in Biochemistry; Biology; Biotechnology; Pharmacy; Medicine; Chemistry; Veterinary Science; Physics or equivalent degrees.
- Acceptance of degrees in other fields is at the discretion of the Master’s Committee.
