Electronics is the study of the way information moves around inside a device, through components like circuits or microprocessors. These days computer systems work closely with electronics, using code to replace large electronic chips meaning we can create smaller, smarter devices.
The Electronic and Computer Systems programme is offered at the Victoria University of Wellington .
Mechatronics sits between small-scale electronic engineering and large-scale mechanical engineering. An example of a mechatronic device is a digital thermostat, which is made up of elements from mechanical, electronic and computer systems engineering.
