North American Studies from Philip University in Marburg deals with the complex literatures and cultures of North America, especially the USA and Canada, but also the Caribbean and Latin America, and performs interdisciplinary teaching and research.


At North American Studies at Philip University in Marburg the central aspects are the multifaceted interculturality of the respective countries, which are analyzed with the help of newly developed methods and disciplines, including those that cross national and international borders. In addition to the literature, you will get insights into cultural phenomena such as TV series, films, images, music, but also into political and historical developments. 


Students also get to know the perspectives of gender studies, ethnic studies and media studies.


The course qualifies you for research and teaching activities in the field of North American literary and cultural studies, in editorial professions (journalism, publishing), mediation functions in the intercultural field (language and cultural mediation), professions in administrative services and science management, work in the foreign service ( EU, UN, embassies) and in international groups (public relations, management).
