Designed to train competent, culturally sensitive speech-language pathologists who can apply research in clinical practice. Applicants are required to complete the MS degree in order to earn the Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential (SLPSC).

About

We provide a multitude of academic and clinical experiences for our students under the direction of skilled teachers, clinical researchers and supervisors both on and off campus. The development of clinical skills requires academic knowledge, the ability to understand and engage in research, and sensitivity to our clients' needs, values and cultures.

Our program curriculum includes:
  • all academic and clinical experiences necessary for ASHA (American Speech, Language and Hearing Association) certification;
  • the Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential,
  • the State of California license to practice speech-language pathology.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution posted by the time student enters program
  • Concurrent application to the Communicative Disorders MS program and the SLPSC program
  • Completion of at least 6 undergraduate courses in Communicative Disorders and 9 courses prior to admission
  • 3.0 GPA overall in baccalaureate coursework
  • Written English Proficiency (WEP)
  • Basic Skills requirement
  • Certificate of Clearance (COC) Fingerprint requirement
  • The applicant must have demonstrated knowledge, through the completion of coursework that is specific to the biological sciences, physical sciences (either physics or chemistry), statistics, and the social/behavioral sciences.
