Overview

Emphasis is placed on preparing students to make sound decisions within the context of rapidly changing internal and external circumstances.

Coursework in business theory and practice is applied to the specific operating conditions of orchestras, theatres, opera companies, dance companies, and other not-for-profit arts institutions.

Career Prospects

Students learn within a thriving arts environment that provides numerous opportunities to gain practical management experience. The city of Cincinnati supports eight major performing and visual arts organizations, two performing arts centers, and hundreds of smaller arts groups. These organizations provide practical experience through job opportunities and internships for the program's students. The College-Conservatory of Music is the largest performing arts provider in the state of Ohio, presenting over 1,000 student, faculty, and guest artist performances each year.

The Arts Administration program at the University of Cincinnati is small and selective, accepting only eight to ten students per cohort. This allows for a great deal of individual attention and concentration on developing the potential of each individual graduate student. Founded in 1976, the program has graduated over 300 students, boasting a 100% annual job placement rate annually, with over 80% of total graduates currently holding positions with professional arts organizations.
