Overview
One of the very few centres for the study of modern Scandinavian languages in the UK, we can accommodate a wide range of research interests in the languages, literatures and cultures of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and other parts of the wider Nordic region.
Join the Scandinavian Studies programme offered by The University of Edinburgh and choose one of two MScR pathways: either completing two research assignments and a 15,000-word dissertation; or writing a longer dissertation of 30,000 words.
On each pathway you’ll be guided by an experienced and well-published supervisor. Our research expertise includes:
- 19th and 20th century literature
- cultural relations and transfer
- language history and dialectology
- literary translation
- onomastics
- place and identity
- Scottish–Scandinavian historical relations
- Viking studies
