Students will learn of design, synthesis, characterisation, production and development of polymeric materials throughout the duration of the degree programme. The material group includes plastics, rubber, composites, paper, wood and other biological materials; students will be able to handle questions pertaining to the choice of raw materials (renewable versus fossil), and the choice of production processes, material combinations and manufacturing methods to achieve the desired characteristics in the finished product. Great emphasis is placed on environmental issues, such as environmentally-friendly material production and development of sustainable materials.
The Joint Nordic Master in Polymer Technology programme is offered at the Chalmers University of Technology.
The Master’s programme in Polymer Technology is a collaboration between five leading technical universities in the Nordic countries (Nordic Five Tech). The programme gives you a unique opportunity to tailor your degree based on your academic interests. You will get to study at two of the partner universities in different countries (however, note that it is not possible to study at both Chalmers and KTH), spending one year at each one, and you will graduate with a double master’s degree. The universities participating in the Master's in Polymer Technology are:
- Aalto University, Finland
- Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden
- Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway
