Linguistics
The Department of Linguistics at the University of Utah, offers an MA and a PhD in Linguistics. Both degrees provide students with a broad foundation in the field of Linguistics via coursework and colloquia, and provide for specialist training in one or more subfields of Linguistics via opportunities to conduct individual and collaborative research.
Philosophy
Master’s degrees in Philosophy have been used successfully by many students as a basis for entering Ph.D. programs at other universities or at the University of Utah.
Language Pedagogy
The Master of Arts in Language Pedagogy program at the University of Utah exposes the student to three main areas of study: language pedagogy, second language acquisition, and the literature and culture of the target area.
Environmental Humanities
The Environmental Humanities Program at the University of Utah offers either an MA or an MS; choose your degree when you apply to the Program.
World Languages
The World Languages program at the University of Utah actively seeks to license teachers in Spanish, French, German, and Chinese. In limited capacities, the program can license teachers in Japanese.
History
University of Utah’s Department of History offers courses of graduate study leadingto the PhD, MA, and MS degrees. The MA is a prerequisite for the PhD program in ourdepartment. There are approximately sixty students in the graduate program and we admit about fifteen new students per year.
World Languages and Cultures
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah offers three Master of Arts degrees: World Languages & Cultures MA (WLC.MA), MA in Language Pedagogy (MALP) and World Languages MA (WLMA).
Creative Writing
The Creative Writing MFA program at the University of Utah in creative writing is small and selective. It gives students the opportunity to study literature, participate in intensive writing workshops, and work in a close community of writers.
