History
History from University of Manitoba introduces you to the study of the past. It is the attempt to understand the culture and society of both the distant past, such as Medieval Europe, and the recent past, such as 1970s Canada. We hope to learn from this pursuit how people, individually and collectively, lived and thought.
Classics
Classics from University of Manitoba may be earned either through a combination of coursework and thesis or coursework and comprehensive examination.
English
The MA in English program focuses primarily on English literature. University of Manitoba students will explore a wide range of periods, genres and critical approaches and will have the option either to undertake a scholarly or creative writing thesis or to complete a coursework MA.
French
French is offered by University of Manitoba. The Department of French, Spanish and Italian offers programs of study leading to a Master of Arts degree in French and a Pre-Master’s option.
Individual Interdisciplinary Studies

Students in the JMP may elect to receive their degree from either of the two participating universities. They may pursue their degree via the thesis route, or the Course and Comprehensive route.
