Design (Textiles)
MA Design (Textiles) immerses you in the research, application and production of textiles within the fashion design, interior design and craft industries. You will have the opportunity to focus on either structured or printed textiles, including both traditional techniques as well as emerging techniques using bio-based materials, non-extractive methods and digital 3D printing technologies.
Design
MA Design at Arts University Plymouth develops products, practices and applications for contemporary society through a speculative lens to imagine design beyond the status quo of production and consumption. It does this by teaching design as an active mode of research that seeks to positively impact human and planetary wellbeing.
Craft and Material Practices
MA Craft & Material Practices at Arts University Plymouth is a course that takes craft as a starting point rather than a destination. Steeped in tacit knowledge that is often transmitted through hands-on skills and customs, you will be guided in material-led research processes in clay, glass, wood, biomaterials, metals, fibre or other materials that lead to personal discovery and future-oriented, contemporary professional practice.
Immersive Media
MA Immersive Media prepares students to translate their creative knowledge and digital skills into engaging immersive content and public media experiences for diverse audiences in this exciting and rapidly growing sector. Learning is conducted through a unique partnership with Real Ideas’ Market Hall in Plymouth, home to Europe’s largest Immersive Dome.
Design (Built Environment)
MA Design (Built Environment) prepares you to develop a unique practice using methods of co-design and practice-led research to transform the spaces people inhabit for increased wellbeing, social agency and sense of place.
Glass
MA Glass is a unique degree focused on the history, creative practice and culture of glass as a material. Based primarily in our world-class, state-of-the-art hot glass and kiln-formed glass studios, you will be immersed in the study of traditional and contemporary applications of this specialist craft.
Fine Art
MA Fine Art at Arts University Plymouth deepens your studio practice by helping you to situate it within critical and contemporary contexts, providing you with the opportunity to develop your ideas and work in a practice-led, interdisciplinary environment, whether you work with painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, moving image, performance, social practice or installation.
