Description
Esther Schneid was a wife, a mother and a fierce advocate for combatting bigotry and anti-Semitism.
Like so many women raised in the 1930s and ’40s, Esther was not afforded the opportunity to pursue a higher education. Determined to make a difference, Esther dedicated her life to enriching the community through her work with the Anti-Defamation League, Schaarai Zedek Sisterhood, the Florida Orchestra and other nonprofit organizations.
After her mother passed in 2004, University of South Florida alumna Nancy Schneid decided to honor Esther’s legacy by creating a scholarship for first-generation women at USF. Established under the umbrella of Women in Leadership & Philanthropy (WLP), the Esther Schneid Memorial Scholarship provides deserving students with financial aid to pursue their college dreams.
